“Justice League Dark” Television Series in the Works from Bad Robot and HBO Max

We had learned back in January that Warner Bros. and J.J. AbramsBad Robot were working on *something* related to Justice League Dark, and tonight we’ve learned that the project is taking the form of a television series for HBO Max. Variety reports that the HBO Max streaming service has handed out a production commitment to a one-hour drama.

The series will be set in the Justice League Dark universe. The site notes, “No further details are currently available about the “Justice League Dark” series, including which characters would be featured in the show. In the DC Comics, the team consists of members like John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, Doctor Mist, and many others.”

Abrams will produce alongside Ben Stephenson and Rachel Rusch Rich.

The Justice League Dark team was introduced in 2011, and a live-action feature film had been in the works at one point in time. Guillermo del Toro had been attached to direct.

An animated Justice League Dark film was released in 2017, with a sequel on the way.
